Level 2, 2x, and 3 DU
Level 2, 2X and level 3 are court mandated counseling programs. That means you have a legal requirement to attend. I acknowledge the coercive nature of your attendance. My response is what can we do together during this time to make it worth your while and expense? You have to attend DUI counseling or the court will give you a penalty. I know a lot about alcohol and drugs and how they affect people and I will be talking about that. But, the number of the people in the room is small and is limited to eight. Most of the time there are seven people in the room counting me. I keep the group size small and keep my teaching style conversational. What we talk about is tailored to your interest because you get to talk about what you want. You talk about yourself and what is important to you. I remind you that there are really only two main choices when it comes to drinking: Continue or Stop. If you continue you can make no change and continue drinking as you always have or you can try to limit or control your drinking to reduce to harm and risk. If you stop drinking you can stop for a while with no promise about your future drinking like one-day at a time, or you can quit forever and be sure you will never drink again. There are no other choices I am aware of. If you know of another choice, please tell me. I am always open to new information.
The Room
The room has a large leather couch, two leather arm chairs and two leather seats. I have folding chairs when there are more people. I stand open to challenge and discussion because that is the way I teach. You do not have to sit there and passively take in information when you do not agree or understand. It is your time and you can work with me to make it worthwhile. If there is a dispute as to factual information, we are connected to the internet and we can check our facts immediately and move on from there. I look forward to meeting your needs.
